Eldorado 1971

Shell Station
This Shell gas station was on the corner of State & Locust Sts where the ROC station is now.
Carter & Choisser Drug Store
This drug store located on 4th Street was owned at one time by Fred Choisser and Raymond "Cricket" Carter. Dick Jordan bought it in 1968.

Orpheum Theater
On 4th Street now part of Sutton's Plumbing. This theater was built on the site the Casino Theater which was built in the early 1900's and burnt in 1915 and twice in 1927. The name was change to the Orpheum when it was rebuilt again.
Texaco Station
This Texaco station was located on 4th St where the Bank of Marion is now. Operated by Raymond and Wendell Turner who retired in 1973.
Nox Theater
This theater was located in the 1200 block of Locust Street. It opened Saturday, May 30, 1936.
Water Company & Tate Lumber
Located on the corner of Locust & Vetrans Drive. The Water company has moved to 4th St. and most reciently the lumber yard was J.R. Country.
Murray Shelter Care
Located at the east end of North Railroad St. Formerly the Hanagan Hotel then the Murray Hotel. In the 1950's it was converted into a shelter care home. In 1973 a new building was built on U.S. 45 and became Fountain View Nursing Home.
Gibson Product Company
This Janitorial Supply company was located on Benton St. and has since moved to 1100 Grant St.
Fire Escape
At the Washington School (grades 1-8) located on 1st St. where the Eldorado Middle School is now.
